As a NHS patient I was offered a shoulder replacement at Lea Spire Hospital Cambridge . I was introduced to MR Kang and the rest is history. He was kind understanding and told me all about the operation. He fitted in with my holiday dates and I had had the op and was out the following day. I went in on 17th Sept and 6 weeks later I have no need for a sling. The thing I liked best was his honesty-- he said he was a good surgeon and would do an excellent operation although he didn't do aftercare so suggested I sort that out myself which I did. He was pleased with the scar as was a lot of other people so I would recommend him to anyone.

Right LHB Tenotomy and mini open graft jacket. I found Mr Kang to be extremely sympathetic to my problem during my first consultation, he understood the issues I had and was able to clearly describe the treatment available to me, how surgery would be completed, the risks and expected recovery period. Prior to surgery I had less than 20% mobility in my arm with continuous and extreme pain. Now I have 100% mobility and am pain free. This has been achieved in less then 10 months, I was advised that recuperation could take up to 12 months. Mr Kang has continued to be very supportive throughout the whole process. My wife is extremely pleased for having her husband back as he once was, thank you Mr Kang.

Mr Kang is totally patient centred in his approach,with impressive communication skills. The first consultation, so successfully handled , was crucial in helping me to decide to have the operation and also to negotiate the lengthy recovery period with confidence. I am a very nervous patient,and it was only the severity of arthritic pain in my right shoulder , which was restricting movement and greatly preventing normal activity ,forced me to seek advice.In addition, disturbed sleep and heavy doses of analgesics made me feel vey unwell and constantly miserable. I was afraid of having any surgery .Mr Kang patiently discussed every aspect in detail, in such a way to give me confidence. The post operative period was also included.The decision to have a right shoulder joint replacement, has changed my life completely. I lead a normal life ,with a fully functioning joint, and without pain .I can sleep well,and enjoy so many activities ,that had previously become impossible.Even the scar is hardly noticeable. Without that first consultation I might not have been able to face the operation. I was treated in Addenbooke's Hospital under the N H S. The care of Mr Kang ,the nursing staff and the the rest of the team was first class.Recovery took time, but because I was prepared for that ,I was not anxious. My one reservation was the physiotherapy service at Chesterton clinic. I was treated by several different therapists, often for just one session ,each having different approaches. Appointments were cancelled at short notice,and then there was a delay to wait for another date . I was concerned that delays in progressing to the the next level of excersise would disrupt or even adversely affect my recovery . Perhaps , this can be reviewed

I had a subacromial decompression with Mr Kang as my consultant/surgeon. I had the op at the Spire Cambridge Lea under the NHS. I could not have wished for better treatment. I had little post-operative pain, good aftercare with physiotherapy, and my shoulder healed very quickly. Only 8 weeks later I was practically back to normal. Obviously I will heed Mr Kang's advice to take care for a while. I was absolutely delighted with how quickly it got better.
